Hunter Institute – TAFE NSW

Hunter Institute – TAFE NSW is committed to working closely with Defence and Defence Industry to deliver workforce and skills development services. With over 15 campuses and an annual enrolment of over 64,000 students and 2,500 expert teachers and support staff, Hunter TAFE has the capability to deliver training across a range of industry sectors including engineering and metals, manufacturing, business, information technology and hospitality.

To complement Hunter TAFE’s capability, the “TAFE NSW Defence Services” team has been established to meet the needs of the Defence sector and is taking a leading role in responding to the training and skills development requirements of Defence and its industry partners.

Flexible Delivery

Hunter TAFE offers flexible and distance learning options. Flexible training programs can be designed to suit your organisation’s needs and can be delivered in a variety of modes including on campus, in your workplace, distance learning, online learning or a combination of any of these.

University Articulation

Hunter TAFE, through TAFE NSW has guaranteed credit transfer arrangements with several Australian universities for articulation into undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.

Completing courses under these arrangements may provide a means to achieving a university qualification. At the same time, retaining the practical relevance for which Hunter TAFE is renowned.

Hunter Defence Cluster

The Hunter Defence Cluster comprises representatives from Regional Development Australia, HunterNet, Hunter TAFE, Hunter Business Chamber, University of Newcastle and the Australian Industry Group. The NSW Government funds a project manager to coordinate this regional approach to promote the Hunter’s Defence Industry.

Hunter Defence Cluster has a strong regional focus and structure, which allows companies to work together as partners. HunterNet is a network of small and medium-sized manufacturing, engineering and consulting companies located in the Hunter region of NSW. It connects 100 companies, active in national and international markets in defence, power generation, mineral processing, transportation and major resource projects.

Hunter TAFE has 15 campuses with around 59,000 students and is strategically positioned to support the defence, maritime and aviation industries.

Hunter TAFE can draw capability and experience from other TAFE NSW Institutes and nationally through its membership with VET Australia.
