Newcastle Airport

Newcastle Airport

Newcastle Airport is one of Australia’s fastest growing airports and offers easy access to Australian capital cities and regional centres. The airport has continued to grow year-on-year and welcomes almost 1.2 million passengers each year.

The Newcastle Airport Master Plan, approved by Department of Defence in 2006, identified almost three hectares for a dedicated Aerospace East Precinct, which includes airside land with Code E taxiway and apron access. This land is immediately available for long term lease and is ideal for commercial or defence related aerospace industry.

Newcastle Airport has recently completed a $14.5 million terminal redevelopment, majority funded by the NSW government’s Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund. The redevelopment included a large extension to the terminal building to house the new arrivals hall and provide dedicated space for permanent customs, immigration, and quarantine facilities, enabling future international services. The remainder of the terminal was fully refurbished.

Other developments in recent years include the upgrade of taxi-ways, expansion of car rental facilities, and the construction of Newcastle Airport’s first dedicated freight facility allowing dual landside and airside access.
